Svenska PostkodStiftelsen

How we work

The Swedish Post Code Foundation supports both local and global projects that fall within our criteria and policies.

The Swedish Post Code Foundation operates within two main areas:

Nature and the environment (nature conservation, climate and sustainable energy sources)

People's living conditions (poverty reduction, human rights and peace building)

From idea to reality

All projects should be in line with the Foundation’s project criteria; show active commitment and have a clear focus on long-term solutions. When selecting projects the Foundation also considers whether the project is easy to communicate, whether it complements the Postcode Lottery’s other beneficiaries and whether it is relevant to current challenges.

Project selection

The Postcode Foundation continually receives ideas for projects but also works proactively to seek out interesting organisations. All proposals are processed continuously throughout the year and are discussed initially by the Foundation’s operational staff, who assess the proposal based on the project criteria and other relevant factors. If the project idea is taken to the next stage a project manager will work closely with the organisation to clarify and visualise the purpose and goal of the project and prepare a project plan and application.

The Foundation’s staff remain in close contact with the organisation throughout the whole duration of the project and make field trips to follow up the project on site. The Foundation has a carefully conceived decisionmaking procedure in which decisions on project support of a strategic nature are made by the Board.

All projects require approval from the Gaming Board for Sweden, Sweden’s regulating authority for gaming and lotteries.

While the Postcode Foundation attaches great importance to preparation and quality assurance of projects, its mode of operating is efficient and nonbureaucratic, ensuring that the entire process from idea to project start-up normally takes only about four months.
