The Kofi Annan Foundation helps vulnerable communities increase their ability to interpret weather reports.

The Postcode Foundation supports a project facilitated by the Kofi Annan Foundation called Weather Info for All. The project aims to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities of farmers and fishermen around Lake Victoria by providing better weather information in the face of the growing impact of climate change.

Climate change alters weather patterns and causes an increased number of extreme weather events, namely droughts and floods, which affect the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities. A combination of accurate weather reports and an increased ability to obtain regular weather forecasts on their mobile phones will help these communities make the appropriate decisions in their daily life. It will reduce the risk of drowning accidents and crops destruction by heavy rains or droughts.
