The Swedish Postcode Lottery is one of Sweden’s most popular lotteries. It is run by Novamedia BV, an international charity lottery operator based in The Netherlands.
Ticket buyers have the chance to win money every day – often together with their neighbours. The vision of the Lottery is to contribute to a better world for people, animals and the environment. The entire surplus of the Postcode Lottery is donated to charity through the 53 beneficiary organizations. Since its establishment in Sweden, the Swedish Postcode Lottery has distributed more than 8,3 billion SEK to charity.
The Swedish Postcode Foundation – a beneficiary of the Swedish Postcode Lottery
As a beneficiary of the Swedish Postcode Lottery, the Swedish Postcode Foundation takes part in the annual distribution to charity. In 2017, 200 million SEK was distributed to the Swedish Postcode Foundation.
Unlike most other beneficiaries the Swedish postcode Foundation isn’t the final recipient of the funds. Instead the Foundation complements the other Lottery beneficiaries by supporting organizations and independent, innovative initiatives worldwide.
Projects within the area of Culture and Sports were previously supported by the Swedish Postcode Lottery’s Culture Foundation and the Swedish Postcode Lottery’s Sport Foundation. Since march 2017, The Swedish Postcode Foundation supports initiatives within the areas People´s Living Conditions, Nature & Environment, Culture and Sports.
