AWF saves the West African giraffe
The African Wildlife Foundation has one mission: together with the people of Africa, work to ensure that the wildlife and wilderness of Africa will remain. Therefore, they aim to protect the West African giraffe and the West African elephant in Park W, situated between Niger, Burkina Faso, and Benin.
Park W is one of the last wildernesses in western Africa. The giraffe is on the brink of extinction with only 250 specimens remaining. Often, the migration patterns of the animals clash with the needs of the local population.
The African Wildlife Foundation will, with the support of the Swedish Postcode Foundation, identify the animal’s movements in order to find a sustainable solution on how animals and humans can coexist in the region.
