Support to the indigenous people in Latin America
Indigenous people in Latin America are exposed to widespread and structured discrimination. Additionally, great parts of the indigenous population live in the Andean area, a region that is struck hard by the climate change. To tackle these challenges the Latin American groups cooperates with numerous of local networks throughout the region. Among other things, they work against illegal mining that brings enormous harm to humans and to the environment. Another activity is to collect information and write reports that reflect the situation of the indigenous peoples. The reports are submitted to international bodies like the UN and OAS that uses the information as a effective tool to put international pressure on the governments concerned.
