The Swedish Postcode Foundation supports the SA College for Tourism which offers training for rural women in South Africa
Many countries in the Southern Africa have suffers from vast gaps between rich and poor, something that more often than not leads to great tension in society. A crucial part of the solution to this problem is to create opportunities for education and training thus ensuring a better income for the poorest of the poor of the population.
SA College for Tourism provides young women from poor backgrounds in ten Southern African countries, all member states of the Southern African Development Community the chance to educate themselves within the hospitality sphere of tourism, the fastest growing industry in the sub-continent with a high demand for skilled and trained personnel. The training program prepares the young women for careers in hospitality services to which they are deployed by the College, leading to economic security and poverty reduction.
The support of the Foundation enables 90 women to be educated and trained at the SA College for Tourism.
