Support to children and adolescents with disabilities in Moldova
Persons with disabilities belong to one of the most vulnerable groups in Moldova. The support from the public sector is often more or less non-existent, which makes it difficult for care-givers to claim the rights of their children and themselves. Hence, a large majority live in poverty due to the loss of income when one parent is forced to stay home and take care of their child.
Additionally, persons with disabilities more often than not suffer from stigma and discrimination from society, something that often leads to social exclusion and considerable difficulties to become part of society and the social structure.
The Postcode Foundation supports SOIR Moldova, an organization that works in Moldova with the mission to help people with disabilities create a better live for themselves and their families.
